Poverty Eradication @ UTAR
At Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), we recognize that poverty is a multidimensional challenge requiring comprehensive solutions. Our approach to SDG 1 encompasses education access, skills development, community empowerment, and sustainable livelihood creation that addresses both immediate needs and long-term poverty eradication.
Through our integrated poverty alleviation strategy, UTAR has supported over 109,585 families through various programmes including scholarships, microfinance, skills training, and community development initiatives. Our programmes focus on breaking the cycle of poverty through education and economic empowerment. We championing inclusive education for the bottom income quintile!
Our commitment extends beyond direct assistance to include research on poverty dynamics, policy advocacy, and partnerships with government agencies and NGOs. By addressing systemic issues and building community capacity, UTAR contributes to sustainable poverty reduction and social justice.
